Happy New Year CSI Gulf States Region! I hope everyone had a blessed and enjoyable Holiday Season and close out to 2021. We have experienced a new way of living and working these past couple of years. Hope springs eternal and it is my hope that as we progress through 2022, we can get this pandemic behind us. That being said, we have a couple of events coming up in 2022 that I hope you can get penciled in on your calendars.

First, we are busy planning the 2022 Gulf States Region Conference. CSI Nashville is our host chapter for this event. Mark your calendars for June 23rd through 25th. Travel to Nashville on the 23rd with our conference starting the morning of the 24th and concluding on the 25th. The CSI Nashville team will be sending out more detailed information in the next few months. While we are in the early stages of planning the agenda, I can tell you our intent is to be heavy on chapter leadership and roles for this event.
The date for nominations for the Robert V. Bishop Award, the highest GSR award, has been extended from January 15th to March 1st. This award will be given at the Awards Dinner during the Region Conference in Nashville. We have a wealth or worthy GSR members. Please consider getting a nomination in from your chapter for this most prestigious award. Send your nomination packages to kent.kile@hallmanlindsay.com by close of business March 1, 2022.

Secondly, it has recently been announced that the 2022 CSI Institute Conference will be held in Denver, CO this year. The conference will be held October 13th-14th at the Denver Downtown Hyatt Regency. Visit csinet.org for details. From what I understand from those who attended the 2021 conference in Nashville, it’s an excellent event. Make your plans early. Lat year’s conference sold out.
Many chapters have taken a hit on membership as we navigate through this pandemic. If your chapter is one that these words ring true for, please know I can empathize. Now, is the time to promote CSI to those in your city that could benefit from what we have to offer. Make every effort to promote the benefits of CSI and offer an invitation to attend a chapter meeting or CSI event. Most chapters are offering a virtual meeting option along with a face-to-face meeting option. If your chapter is not currently doing this, give it consideration. The cost of a hosting site is minimal and just might increase your meeting attendance and possibly membership numbers as well.

Opportunities exist all around us. We’ve yet to see the best that we can become in the CSI Gulf States Region. My phone line is open. If you need to kick around ideas about chapter growth or have a concern, please call me at 615-347-4572. I’d love to hear from you and help where I can. 2022 can be one of the best years ever. What’s your mindset and plan to make it a great year? We can do it together. Let’s make it a goal to grow our chapters and take CSI to the construction community as an excellent source of communication and education in 2022. Thank you for being a CSI member. Your involvement is what makes this organization tick. I hope to see you soon either on a virtual meeting call or in person.
May you, and your families have a blessed, safe, and prosperous 2002!
Kent Kile- CSI Gulf States Region President, 2021-2022
